A virtual private server with its own CPU, RAM and NVMe storage. You get root access and choose the operating system. It is not shared hosting.
How quickly is my VPS delivered?+
VPS orders wait for our team to place the provider order after payment. Access appears in your dashboard when the server is ready. This is not instant checkout provisioning.
Where are the servers?+
Locations come from the live catalogue. Amsterdam is available today; other regions appear here when they can actually be ordered.
Which Linux distributions can I choose?+
The image list is loaded from the provider. Typical options include Ubuntu and Debian; anything on the configurator is what you can actually install.
Do I get root and SSH access?+
Yes. Every VPS includes SSH. Root is available on the Linux images we offer.
Can I use an SSH key?+
The configurator offers an SSH key at create time only when that path is live. Until then we store a one-time password when the provider returns one. You can add keys after you sign in. We never accept or store private keys.
Do I get IPv4 and IPv6?+
IPv4 is included. IPv6 is assigned where the location provides it.
Can I upgrade my VPS later?+
Yes. You can resize to a published plan from the portal. Dedicated servers cannot be resized that way.
Can I reinstall my VPS?+
Yes, where the provider supports reinstall. The option appears on the server page when it is available.
Can I cancel a VPS?+
Yes. Schedule cancellation from the portal. The server stays until the paid period ends, then it is deleted.
Are backups included?+
Not by default. Backups can be enabled where the provider supports them. Check the server page — we only show the control if it is actually available.
What is the difference between VPS and dedicated?+
A VPS uses virtual CPU and RAM. After payment our team places the provider order. Dedicated hardware is prepared to order; delivery depends on provider availability.
Can Steady manage my VPS?+
Yes. Managed VPS uses the same published plans and locations, but we provision it — it is not a self-service checkout flow.
How does managed hosting differ?+
Business hosting is a control-panel service for websites and email. A VPS is an operating system you administer yourself, unless you choose managed VPS.
Can I manage several VPS servers from one account?+
Yes. Every VPS on the account appears under Servers, with the same billing and support.
Can I manage my VPS through the API?+
Yes. The Steady API can list, create and act on servers. Most customers use the dashboard; the API is there for automation.
